Heighten performance. Lower environmental impact.

Engineered to conserve water, reduce energy, and lower carbon emissions.

  • Up to 20% lighter than standard 5/8” Fire-Shield® Gypsum Board
  • Suitable for walls and ceilings in single- or multi-layer drywall construction
  • Type X core is fire resistant and an approved component in specific UL fire-rated designs.

Gold Bond® EVOLVE X™ Fire-Shield® Gypsum Board consists of a fire-resistant, Type X gypsum core specially formulated to be up to 20% lighter than 5/8" Fire-Shield® Gypsum Board and is encased in heavy, natural-finish, 100% recycled paper on the face and back sides. The face paper is folded around the long edges to reinforce and protect the core, and the ends are square-cut and finished smooth.

EVOLVE X features a Type X core to provide additional fire resistance ratings when used in specific UL designs.

GridMarX® are printed on the paper surface to help installers instantly identify stud locations and make accurate cuts without having to pencil in or snap chalk lines.

The EVOLVE™ family of products focus on environmental impact by conserving water and reducing energy use during manufacturing, and lowering carbon emissions.

Check the Fire and Safety Information for a more complete explanation of how fire resistance ratings work.

APPLICATIONS:

  • Use for walls and ceilings in fire-rated construction where the framing members are spaced up to 24” o.c.

ADVANTAGES:

LOWER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

  • Conserves water and reduces energy use during manufacturing, and lowers carbon emissions.

LIGHTWEIGHT

  • Up to 20% lighter than 5/8" Fire-Shield Gypsum Board.
  • Lighter weight results in easier handling.

PROVIDES ADDITIONAL FIRE RESISTANCE

  • Features a Type X core making it more fire resistant than ordinary wallboard.
  • Approved component in UL fire-rated designs.
  • The gypsum core will not support combustion or transmit temperatures greatly in excess of 212°F (100°C) until completely calcined, a slow process.
  • UL Type FSLX requires the use of fiberglass insulation for single-layer, steel stud UL-rated wall assemblies.

FAST AND EASY TO INSTALL

  • Features GridMarX guide marks on the board to allow for faster and more accurate installation.
  • Save time and money with MaX 12® and MaX 16® optimized fastener patterns to achieve 1-hour fire ratings using fewer fasteners.
  • Excellent working properties, including score and snap, reduced dust, and improved strength-to-weight ratio.
  • Cuts easily for quick installation, permitting painting or other decoration and the installation of metal or wood trim almost immediately.
  • Dimensionally stable under changes in temperature and relative humidity and resists warping, rippling, buckling and sagging.

LOW-EMITTING MATERIALS

  • Qualifies as a low-VOC emitting material by meeting California Specification 01350.
  • Achieves UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification for low chemical emissions into indoor air during product usage. For more information, visit: ul.com/gg.
